HEAPHY GENEALOGY
Ginealais
Heaphy has a long history in Ireland with records dating back to 1601. Its family members have had illustrious careers from British Army Officers, Police Officers, Land Stewards, Gardeners, Farmers, Artists, Gentlemen, Housekeepers, Publicans, Teachers, Marine Divers, Lithographers, Merchants, Ladies, Actors/Actresses, Theatre Managers, Factory Owners, and more.
The eighteenth-century Limerick Heaphys appear to have evolved from the late-seventeenth-century Waterford/Jacobite Heaphy family into a dispersed but increasingly well-connected Limerick family, centred particularly on Rathkeale and west Limerick, whose members became associated through marriage, land, law and estate management with families including the O'Brien, Blennerhassett, Horan, Holland, Wall, Conway, Duhigg, Green, Holliday, Tubbs, Evans, Powell, Southwells and Massys, eventually producing the Clarina steward line.
This site is intended to assist in genealogy research, with a focus on the Heaphy family of CLARINA, Limerick, and to provide a legacy for families. Several Heaphy family lines are under research and work is ongoing in an attempt to connect these branches, with research showing at times, cross branch connections, however without substantial evidence, there still remains many intriguing unresolved links.
