These are fragmented lines and refers to church records from Limerick city parishes, which does not necessarily mean that the members below all lived within the city.
Line 1
1 Thomas Heaphy, born abt 1730. Thomas married Elicia (Alice) Holyday (Holliday) (born abt 1735) in about 1755. Alice Holliday is possibly related to Charles Holliday and Sarah White, who married in St. John's, COI, Limerick city, on the 11 Aug 1711. A sister or cousin to Alice is possibly a Mary Holliday, born about 1733, who married Garrett Condon in 1754, St. Munchins, COI, Limerick city. There only appears to have been a small number of Holliday families in Limerick at around this time. (See Holliday Family)
There is a strong connection here between the White, Holland and Holliday family. Simon Holland's (father of Rev. Simon Holland, who married Margaret Heaphy) mother and grandaunt (Deborah & Sarah) are both descendent from Simon White of Knocksentry, Limerick, whose possible ancestry dates all the way back to 1197/8, Limerick to Walter White, High Sheriff of Limerick (Ref: Quarterly Journal for members of the American College of Heraldry, Volume XXXII). Simon White was an extremely wealthy man, as is noted from his will dated 1704. Sarah White, sister or cousin of Deborah White, married Charles Holliday (Mentioned above), who may be as suggested, a relation to Elicia Holliday, who married Thomas Heaphy.
Rev. Simon Holland (1737 - 1822), COI, is the son of Simon Holland Esq and Deborah White (Sister of James White of Knocksentry, Limerick), and grandson of Zacharias Holland, merchant, Limerick and grandnephew of Hezekiah Holland, alderman of Limerick City (City Sheriff - 1699. Limerick Mayor - 1713). Rev. Simon Holland, married Margaret Heaphy, niece of Robert Horan (See Heaphy of Limerick & Kerry ). Is Thomas Heaphy related to Margaret Heaphy?
The granduncle of Rev. Simon Holland was Richard White (married Margaret Hamilton), who settled in Bantry Cork, whose grandson, Simon White, married Frances Jane Hedges Eyre of Macroom Castle, father of Richard White (1st Earl of Bantry) and Hamilton White (3rd son), who married Lucinda Heaphy, great grand daughter of Daniel Heaphy and Rachel Blennerhassett. These are strong connections between the families. Deborah White who married Simon Holland were 1st cousins. Deborah White (if sister of Sarah White) is the aunt of Charles Holliday's children. Richard White, 1st Earl of Bantry, is the 1st cousin of Simon Holland, father of Rev. Simon Holland; Hamilton White, who married Lucinda Heaphy, is the 3rd cousin of Eliza Holland, daughter of Rev. Simon Holland and Margaret Heaphy.
The only confirmed child of Thomas and Elicia/Alice Heaphy is Martin, born in 1766, St. Munchins, RC (See below). The other children (RC) are suggested, but probable:
i Thomas Heaphy, suggested son, born abt 1756, married Elizabeth Barrington, St. Munchins, RC, 17 May 1778 with witnesses, Martina Hehir & Marion Enright. Elizabeth is possibly the sister of Honora and Mary Barrington, as both have been present at multiple baptisms.
History has been written many times of the Barrington family and how it was Samuel Barrington, watchmaker that first arrived in Limerick in 1691. His son and grandson, both named Benjamin, were High Sheriff and Aldermen of Limerick. Benjamin, the grandson, married Anne Waltho in 1724, and their second eldest son, Matthew Barrington, who married Jane Canter in 1754, had one son, named Joseph Barrington (1764 - 1846), who moved into property development with his sons, and founded Barrington's Hospital. It was through Joseph's son, Matthew, that claimed the baronet title, making Joseph the 1st Baronet, with Sir Matthew, his son, succeeding him. It was also Matthew that bought the estate, where Glenstall Castle would be built.
What relation Elizabeth Barrington, born about 1760, is to Joseph Barrington (1764 - 1846) is currently unknown. Is she a cousin? There are multiple references for Thomas Heaphy, as witnesses to weddings or sponsor at various baptisms in the St. Munchins RC, from 1780 - 1803.
